Our Services

We can not overstate just how amazing our services are! We hope that when you read about them, you will have to agree and then follow this great call to action and get in touch!

Gurgly Pipes and Blockages

If you have waste water coming up out of your overflow gully (an exterior drain with a grate, usually located under a tap) this is usually an indication that you have roots in your sewer. This is something that will become noticeable as a gurgly drain and gradually get worse as the roots bind the pipe and eventually cause a blockage.

Simon’s Money Saver Tip –  9 times out of 10, a gurgly drain will escalate to a full blockage because of the flushing of sanitary products down the toilet so place a waste bin beside your toilet with clear instructions for house guests and visitors to your home.

Quarter Turn Taps

If you find it difficult to turn taps on and off again, you will LOVE quarter turn taps. They are not as expensive as they used to be – in fact they are downright reasonable and a joy to use. Perfect for families with small children or arthritis suffers, quarter turn taps make it easy to turn on a tap and shut it off again.

Simon’s Money Saver Tip –  Quarter turn taps are lovely however the internal ceramics are more susceptible to grit in the water so when you invest in these taps you should also invest in a whole house water filter which blocks sediment and grit from entering your system and dramatically increases the life of your taps, hot water service, pipes and possibly even yourself.

Gravity Fed Septic

The most common septic system is also the simplest. A gravity fed septic system is based on a transpiration trench which is used when your soil values are good for absorption. This simple septic system uses gravity, meaning no pumps nor aeration is required. In fact, with this simple system, the sewer requires no special treatment. The septic tank holds and breaks down the solids over time and on the outlet side of the tank, wastewater flows out naturally, gravity fed into an underground trench which then evaporates or is absorbed by the surrounding soil.

Sewer Jetting

The good news is Rogers Plumbing have a Sewer Jetter to blast roots and debris out of the way and get things flowing again for you fast. It’s a quick, relatively inexpensive option when you just need a quick result.

The bad news is if you have roots in your sewer, they will grow back in time and the process will need to be repeated. Old earthenware pipes are highly susceptible to roots as they can work their way in-between joints in the pipe or cracks caused by settling.

Leaking Toilets

No one likes to leave taps running but often toilets are left leaking for months or even years. A little trickle down the back of the bowl may not look like much but it’s roughly equivalent leaving a tap on a quarter turn. The silly thing is, a leaking toilet is generally a very simple fix. Usually not much of a fix at all unless the cistern is so ancient it requires full replacement and even then, not an expensive job vs all the water you are paying to literally flush down the toilet. If you have a leaking toilet call us. You will love having that leak gone.

Replace Earthenware Sewer Pipes with PVC

If you experience regular sewer blockages, Rogers Plumbing have a camera they can send down to identify the exact position of the blockage and then they can optionally excavate the position and replace your old earthenware pipe with modern PVC which is generally impervious to tree roots. The only way you will get a tree root in a PVC pipe is due to a crack caused by settling or improper backfill. Rogers Plumbing have their own excavation equipment so they can maintain quality assurance for every aspect of their work including the process of back filling excavation works. Modern PVC is wisely installed prior to home renovations where pipes become less accessible. You do not want to be putting old earthenware pipes under a slab of concrete or even simply a new section of house where future access to the pipes will be restricted.

Leaking Taps

Tap washers are easily replaced and a lot of people do their own but often, the brass seat inside the tap is also worn and requires reseating which is a job requiring specialised tools and best done by a plumber. The reason the brass seat gets a groove in it is from grit in your water which is why you should ask Simon about a whole house water filter. Once the brass seat is reseated, your tap will work like new again and be so easy to turn on and off, you will wonder why you waited all these years to get it done.

Simon’s Money Saver Tip –  Resist the urge to murder your taps shut when they have a long spout as in your laundry or a rose as in your shower to stop them dripping. Shut of your tap with normal light pressure and the water will cease dripping after a few moments once the spout or rose has emptied. If dripping persists, call Simon and have him reseat the brass seat and replace the washer for ‘as new’ performance you will love!

Shower Head Replacement Service

Have you ever stopped to think about the quality of your shower experience? No doubt you think about that stream of water and how it fits your showing vision daily. Yes, water is water but all showering experiences are not equal. Why settle for a lack lustre showing experience when you can have the very, very best for what equates to very little money and one simple phone call?

Simon and the team carry a range of shower heads (including the pictured Methven-Ai chrome vision – part art, part shower head for under $500 installed) you can try right there on the wall in your shower. We always test drive our car but the humble shower (where you probably spend just as much time) is often a more a hit and miss affair. Either you pick something you hope will work out (often based on looks and price) or you move into a home and put up with what the previous owner choose. Rarely does anyone think about changing the fizzer for a royal experience because no one really gives all that much thought to the shower once you are dry. BUT!

The right shower head can make your day and a shower at the end of the day under a head hand picked for you (by you) is even better.  Why not give Rogers plumbing a call and book a shower head replacement appointment today. We feel confident we can help you find the perfect showering experience and install the perfect shower head in your shower for you to enjoy today.

Rain Gutters

Ask any property inspector and they will tell you that any kind of water pooling or saturating an area close to your home is an expensive repair waiting to happen. For this reason, leaking gutters should never be ignored unless you are prepared to potentially spend a lot of money later for a minor saving now. A leaking gutter can cause rot, rising damp, ground settling and most relevant to many homes in the Hastings, the moist ground is a haven for termites.

Rogers Plumbing are able to assist you with:

  1. Gutter repairs

  2. Full gutter replacement

  3. Downpipe repairs

  4. Diversion of gutter water to a water tank or tanks

  5. Leaf Gutter Guard

If you have a single section of rotted out guttering, this is generally easily and cost effectively replaced. If you have multiple areas of concern, sometimes replacing the guttering is a better option. Gutters are of course in a range of colours and leaf guard is now available to match.

Leaf Gutter Guard

Leaf guard serves to prevent debris building up in gutters and creating a place for corrosion and rot to set in however if you have water tanks, it also stops vegetation from building up in your tank which can cause your water to become acidic. Copper pipes do not play well with acidic water and in older houses, a water leak within your walls is a very real possibility which is never cheap to fix.

Simon’s Money Saver Tip  – Better to spend a little now to save a LOT later. If you have trees near your house and you want to extend the life of your gutters, leaf guard is something you should really look into.

Hastings Water Tank

Supply and Installation

Top up your pool and keep your garden lush with impunity! Even if you are on town water in Wauchope, diverting a downpipe to collect otherwise wasted water from your gutters into a water tank is a great way to isolate your home from water restrictions which often kick in when your plants need water most. If not the garden, then for free pool top-ups or even a small tank for washing your car whenever you like. A water tank = freedom to use that water however you like.

The great news is, adding a water tank to collect rain is relatively simple and affordable because Rogers plumbing can supply the tank, prepare the pad and divert the water so all you need to do is make one simple phone call to Simon to say you want it done.

We have a range of tanks available from small tanks that can sit on your patio for drinking or light watering duty to large tanks suitable for a household of 5 or more people. The best option is to have a conversation with Simon about why you want a tank and what your objectives are and together, you can come up with the best solution for you.

Whole House Water Filters, Sediment Filters & Drinking Water Filters

A surprising number of people have never heard of a whole house filter but a filter which blocks sediment and grit from entering your plumbing is an absolute money saver for owner occupiers. When you live in a place long enough, sooner or later plumbing related things fail so if you are planning on staying in a house for any length of time, taking the proactive step of fitting a sediment filter between your house and the mains supply or your primary water source is singularly the best way to give added longevity to all your plumbing. Take out any tap washer in your home for inspection and notice the grooves in the washer and also in the brass seating. This is caused by grit in your water – water which you also drink and cook with.  A whole house filter is not expensive and can generally be installed in under 30 minutes leaving time enough for Simon and the team to replace all your tap washers and make your taps feel new again (and with a sediment filter on your house, they should stay feeling that way for a long, long time!)

Under Sink Drinking Water Filter

If you like the taste of town water great! If your tank water is pure and fresh and free of sediment perfect! BUT likely neither statement is true and you could benefit from a drinking water filter fitted to your kitchen tap. The great news is a drinking water filter is easy to retrofit to any kitchen sink. Filtering your drinking water is a sure fire way to get your kids, your entire family, drinking more water with all the associated health benefits. Rogers Plumbing can fit your preferred brand of filter such as a Brita under sink filter and a stand alone tap for instant, delicious water that is as nice as the bottled stuff but cheaper than chips. A couple of stainless steel lightweight water bottles to take to school, work or play and you will never have to buy bottled water again!
